Immigration in Canada

  We made a word cloud to see what words often appear when people talk about immigration in Canada. We used ideas from COCA (Corpus of Contemporary American English), which is a big collection of English texts. It helped us understand how this topic is usually written about. In the word cloud, the biggest words are the ones used the most. Some important words we found are: “Website,” “Shared Services,” and “eTA” – These show that immigration today is often done online. “Canada,” “Canadian,” and “officials” – These words show that the government plays a big role. “Problems,” “deadline,” and “technicians” – These may mean that people had some trouble with the system. “Travel,” “email,” and “documents” – These are things people often deal with during immigration. We also searched for the words “Canada” and “immigration” in COCA. Most examples were found in news and academic writing, not in stories or conversations. That shows immigration is mostly talked about in formal ways....
